In a couple of weeks I will be blowing a good couple hundred dollars catching up my monster high collection and it’s gonna be so good ;D

I feel a mixture of pride and sorrow when I walk through the monster high section and realize there is nothing for me to buy til new dolls come out

What I find most disturbing about the whole “race” issue in the Monster High fandom is the fact that people mention and then ignore ALL of the different nationalities, just because their “real life” skin color might be “white”.

I guess “people of color” need to be represented, but if you are “white”, it doesn’t matter where you are from, you are just “white”.

What is really more important here? Equal representation of nationalities, or people imagining that there are more monsters that, were they not blue or pink or green, etc, would be darker skinned?

Has nobody else caught on that, when you go through a bunch of different nationalities, with all of their different cultures, etc, you still end up with a lot of lighter skinned people? That those people are still DIFFERENT? Does nobody else realize how mixed and webbed together races are becoming to the point that there are more skintones than we can break down to “black” or “white”?

I am glad that Mattel has made an effort to actually give the characters different backgrounds, and personalities, and nationalities. I don’t care if that nation happens have natives who are generally lighter or darker skinned, so long as we are seeing a diverse cast of PEOPLE. There are tons of shows/dolls/etc where every doll IS the ‘stereotypical preppy popular white kid’.

Diversity is about more than how light or dark a skin color is.

smh

Dear Mattel

If you are not going to keep packaging stands in with the dolls, can you at least offer bulk packages of them either in-stores or via your website?

Thanks,

An aggravated customer

Collectors who don’t debox.

Makes me wonder…why? Why collect and have a passion for something if they’re slotted away on a bookshelf like stock at Walmart? May as well save the money and have a browse in the toy aisle every so often.

I mean, it’s like for telling ‘I know I’ll sell these eventually, so I’ll buy them for now. Just cause.’ it’s like renting a doll that you can touch or have fun with. It seems really pointless. I could never do that.

Some people collect more for the idea of collecting than for the actual product. It’s just where their focus is in the hobby. Being able to say they own all of something, etc. It is also a value thing. They know they have all of something, AND that it’s mint and valuable and ‘perfect’ just like how it was made. It’s just the mentality behind collecting.
